Backing up ByteOMeter

At some point you may want to reinstall Windows or you buy a new PC to which you want to move ByteOMeter. To reinstall ByteOMeter and keep the current data and settings you will need your personal serial number supplied by email when you purchased ByteOMeter. Furthermore, you will need to make a copy of ByteOMeter's data folder, which is typically located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\ByteOMeter

Note: the "Application Data" folder is a hidden folder. If you cannot see it, you must enable the showing of hidden files in Explorer: In explorer, go to the menu item Tools, select Folder Options, select the tab View and in there put a dot in Show hidden files and folders. To actually make the re-install, run the ByteOMeter installer on the new PC or installation. If you do not have the installer, it is available from www.byteometer.com. After the installation, copy the ByteOMeter folder from your previous ByteOMeter installation into the newapplication Data directory. Now start ByteOMeter and right-click the main ByteOMeter window and choose About. Type in your serial number and click Register. ByteOMeter is now up and running with your usual settings and data.
